What is the Programmatic Evaluation?
The Programmatic Evaluation initiated by the Council in June 2023 will revisit the management policies, goals, and objectives for all of the Council's federally managed fisheries in the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, and Gulf of Alaska. Through this process, the Council will consider whether and how its management approach should be updated and revised in consideration of current environmental variability and the ability of the management framework to respond to such change.
Why is the Council holding this webinar?
The Council has scheduled an agenda item in April 2025 to refine the alternatives for the Programmatic Evaluation. The Council adopted high-level alternatives in June 2023, but staff need more detail before they can develop an analysis of those alternatives. The Council asked staff to prepare some specific examples to help the Council take action, and also to provide opportunity for meaningful engagement on this project. This webinar is an opportunity for staff to explain the materials they have prepared, as an additional resource to the public to prepare their informed comments for the April meeting. The webinar will be recorded and a link posted to this eAgenda.
